I have been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember. As a very young girl I loved taking photos so that I would always have something tangible to remember the special people and memorable events in my life. I began taking photography classes in junior high school and have continued to take courses and intensive workshops since then to improve my knowledge, technique and skills.
Living in some of the most beautiful and scenic settings in the world has made it easy to follow my passion for photography. I was raised in Asheville, went to college in Boone, then spent 16 years in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, followed by another 10 years in South Florida. I love to take advantage of our beautiful outdoor environment whenever possible and use natural light every chance I get. My photography style could best be described as modern, fun and photojournalistic. Although I will pose subjects as needed, I strive to "capture the moment" as it naturally occurs and to photograph my subjects doing things they love most. I want my photos tell a story about my subjects and their lives, about who they really are, what they like to do and what is important to them. I love getting to know the people I photograph and consider myself blessed and privileged whenever I am asked to enter someone's personal world and record who they are.
I am very family-oriented and enjoy spending time with my two daughters. I think that's why I love photographing every stage of family life so much ~ from weddings to maternity to newborns to children to high school seniors to extended family. I am thrilled to be able to witness and photograph all of life's milestone events such as weddings, births, and birthdays as these special times are usually celebrated with our closest family and dearest friends.
